As a Christmas gift for my wife's family, we made a tree ornament based on a nativity scene her grandfather cut out of wood many years ago. He made the original the old-fashioned way, of course, but I used the CNC. This was particularly handy since we wanted to make 16 of them.
I started by scanning the original on an 11x17 flatbed scanner, and traced the outlines using Autodesk Graphic. I scaled it down to ornament size, and used Easel create the tool path and Chilipeppr to send it to the CNC.
It was cut with a 1/8" bit out of 9mm thick walnut. I cleaned up the edges with a 220 grit sanding sponge, and finished it with Watco Danish Oil (natural).
