Some Comments to put with Measurement Positions

Jackets, Waistcoat & Shirt

Measured over a Shirt and Trousers or Shirt Waistcoat & Trousers.

Height – Measured from head to floor without shoes.

Nape to Base of Armhole – Measured using a Ruler placed under the arm to position the base.

Nape to Waist – Measured from Shirt Collar Seam to natural narrow waist (usually at naval)

Nape to Hip – Measured from Shirt Collar Seam to widest point at the pelvis.

Across Back – Measure from Armhole Seam or from Body Skin Crease of the Upper Arm

Across Chest – Measure from Armhole Seam or from Body Skin Crease of the Upper Arm

Neck Point to Shoulder End – Measure from Collar Seam to The Sleeve Seam or End of Collar Bone.

Across Shoulder – Measure from Sleeve Seam to Sleeve Seam or Collar Bone, end to end.

Arm Length – Measure from Neck Point along to Shoulder End and onto Top of Thumb Joint.

Chest Circumference – Around Chest close under the armhole, Over The Shoulder Blades and Chest at the Widest Point, parallel to ground – Take this Measure with the tips of 2 fingers inside the tape.

Waist Circumference – Around the Narrowest Point of the waist, parallel to ground – Take this Measure with the tips of 2 fingers inside the tape.

Hip (or Seat) Circumference – Around the Widest Point of the hip, parallel to ground – Take this Measure with the tips of 2 fingers inside the tape.

Neck Box Width – Measure straight across the widest point of the neck at the collar seam.

Neck Circumference – Measure around the neck at the collar seam position - Take this Measure with the tip of 1 finger inside the tape (equivalent to approx 1cm).

Biceps Circumference – Measure around the upper arm at the widest point - Take this Measure with the tip of 1 finger inside the tape.

Wrist Circumference – Measure around the Wrist Joint - Take this Measure with the tip of 1 finger inside the tape.

Extra

Jacket Length – Taken from The Nape Position (or the Collar Seam) to the required finished Hem Line at the centre back.

Waistcoat Front Length – Taken from the Nape onto the Neck Point to the required Front Point or Hem Position.

Waistcoat Back Length – Taken from The Nape Position (or the Neck Seam) to the required finished Hem Line at the centre back

Waistcoat Front Opening – Taken from the Nape onto the Neck Point to the required Front Top Button Position.
