This idea came when a friend, who is just as much a chocoholic as I am, and I were eating some chocolate and discussed how it would be nice to try different chocolate recipes and invite everyone to sample some of our creations at a party for chocoholics. Well, people loved the idea and thought it was quite unique and interesting. There was a great turn out! So we decided to hold one every year. Each year this party got bigger and bigger as we told our friends to invite their friends to come too. When we talk to people about our Chocolate Party, they all think it’s such a great idea and wanted to be included on the invite list. We now hold this party in June since the nicer weather allows us to have it outside to accommodate all the people who do come.
Each year, my husband and I try different recipes for main course dishes that have a chocolate ingredient. It certainly is a challenge to find these types of recipes in books, TV shows, or on the Internet. We’ve had to create some of our own recipes. We have had great success in using chocolate this way and have wanted to broaden other people’s taste buds to experience this too. We’ve made chocolate ravioli, chocolate mint lamb, chicken holy molé, chocolate beef curry and Moroccan chicken in a chocolate wrap. People are pleasantly surprised to enjoy these unique recipes. Since this is a Pot-Luck type party, we have enjoyed other people’s recipes and creativity. Most people bring dessert types but some have also gotten on the bandwagon with savoury dishes such as: chocolate chilli and chocolate covered bacon. We’ve even had chocolate wine, beer, shooters and cocktails! We even made our own Chocolate website that has some of our recipes, pictures, and interesting information about chocolate!
