Which ensemble(s) are you auditioning for?

If you are interested in participating in a TRADITIONAL CHOIR (Concert Choir/Bel Canto/Camerata) at CHS:

All students will need to fill out the Online Form, and complete a Vocal Audition with Ms. Morris to determine placement:

• LMS & WMS students will audition during their choir class, or sign-up for the before/after school date at CHS. Sign-up below.

• Discovery Charter School and St. Pat's students can sign-up for an after-school audition time at CHS.  Sign-up below.

• New CHS students interested in choir will complete an in-person vocal audition at one of the scheduled times. Sign-up below. 

• Returning CHS choir members will complete a virtual vocal audition. All returning members will be asked some basic music-theory questions during the audition.

If you are interested in participating in a SHOW CHOIR (Drifters/Sandpipers) at CHS:

There are three steps to the audition process for our show choir groups:

• First, please fill out the Online Form.

• Next, you will need to complete a vocal audition with Ms. Morris to determine placement. Please sign up below, and read the information regarding the vocal auditions.  

• Practice for your Dance/Movement audition! Check out the instruction video, found below, for instructions.

• Finally, attend Dance/Movement Auditions in the Chesterton High School Auditorium. See below for date and time.  Parents may drop students off at Entrance 31, which is located on the North side across from the Baseball and Softball fields.  The movement audition will be complete by 6:00 p.m.  All auditionees are expected to remain for the duration of the audition.  Please wear shoes with flexible soles and comfortable clothing which allows you to move freely.

Requirements for Vocal Audition:

• All students will be asked to sing the National Anthem.  Please note that your audition will be a cappella and there will be no accompaniment track provided.

• Each new student will also be vocalized to determine you range during the audition.  All this means is that we want to hear you sing and Ms. Morris will do some vocal warm-up exercises with you to determine where your voice is most comfortable.

Requirements for Movement/Dance Audition:

• All students will learn a short choreographed sequence before the audition.  Video instructions found below!

• Individuals will be placed in small groups in which they will perform the choreography. You may be asked to run the choreography multiple times.
