Demonstrate critical thinking, including the ability to
evaluate, analyze, and integrate information from a variety of sources;
use appropriate strategies and tools to represent, analyze, and integrate information; and
develop critical, reasoned positions.
Draw from your academic courses, job-related experiences, and even your extracurricular activities to demonstrate this competency. Capitalize on problems you have encountered and solved. Consider how you might turn a negative experience into a positive attribute. For example, if a team in which you participated experienced conflict that you helped resolve, describe how you resolved it. This shows that you can be a valuable member to any team to which you are assigned (even difficult ones) and that you work to solve problems instead of making excuses or complaining about your team members. Companies want to hire people who are problem solvers. Are you a problem solver? Show it!
In addition, describe the major project you completed either individually or with your team in your capstone or other course, focusing on problem-solving activities. Address the following:
What was the problem/situation that you (your team) investigated? Describe the assignment context including the client, problem statement, limitations, prerequisites, etc.
What approaches did you (or your team take) to address the needs of the context or client?
How did you evaluate plausible solutions in order to recommend the best solution?
What criteria did you identify?
What was the solution you recommended? Why?
How do you foresee the implementation of the solution?
Attach any documents, evaluation sheets, photos, slideshows, or other artifacts as needed to support your reflection.
