P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations!
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded January 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a philanthropic and educational organization interested in bringing to women increased opportunities for higher education. There are approximately 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with more than 250,000 active members.
On October 3rd, 1894, P.E.O. came to Missouri when the Missouri State Chapter was organized in Unionville. One hundred and eighteen years later, we have over 340 active chapters in Missouri with nearly 14,000 active members!
