The Information for Planning and Conservation Tool (IPaC) is a U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service conservation planning tool for streamlining the environmental review process. It provides users with the ability to explore the landscape and help site their development projects in a way that minimizes conflicts with natural resources. IPaC has historically been an Endangered Species tool, but is now able to also provide users information on Migratory Birds.
As of late 2014, users can use the project scoping feature to obtain a list of Birds of Conservation Concern that are potentially impacted by their project. In addition, the FWS Branch of Bird Conservation (BBC) is working to populate IPaC to deliver Nationwide Conservation Measures, which are basic measures that can be implemented at any location to avoid and minimize impact to migratory birds from any activity. Throughout 2015, the BBC will also work on regional pilots to populate more species- and activity-specific conservation measures within IPaC. Delivery of Nationwide Conservation Measures through IPaC may occur as early as Summer 2015. To learn more about IPaC and to view and test the existing IPaC functionality, including delivery of Birds of Conservation Concern on Trust Resource lists, visit the IPaC Home Page. The IPaC tool now also has an upgraded, more user-friendly interface! Go check it out!
