The survey for the Council for the Conservation of Migratory Birds has taken on a whole new appearance this year. The new survey made its premier on April 22nd, and was released on a new on-line platform designed by the survey vendor, Qualtrics. The new design is dynamic, user-friendly, and targeted at collecting information in a way that helps the Council agencies measure and showcase successful implementation of its bird conservation actions. The original survey questions are still present, with only minor modifications in wording to improve readability and participant comprehension. In addition, a few new questions have been added to capture how each agency distributes information pertaining to the annual theme (currently Facilities Management). The new survey also incorporates ‘display logic’, allowing for unique questions to be administered to either Council Staff or non-Council staff, depending on how they answer specific questions. This dynamic survey will collect information about each agency’s unique needs and requirements, thus better equipping the Council to provide agencies bird conservation assistance within the framework of what each agency can reasonably accomplish.
The survey will be remain open through June 6th, 2015, which provides 45 days for each agency on the Council to distribute and participate in the survey. As with previous Council surveys, the information collected in the survey will be aggregated into a present day ‘federal snapshot’ to assess the effectiveness of Federal Agency implementation of Executive Order 13186. Data collected will continue to be quantitative in nature, and will also include text examples of agency actions that benefit the conservation of migratory birds and their habitat. The aggregated responses will then be compiled and presented in the annual report developed by the Council to help showcase the progress of the Council agencies in the implementation of the Executive Order, and promote the successful activities the agencies are doing both within and outside of the annual theme, Facilities Management.
