Injury and Mortality Reporting System Coming Soon

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) has recently completed development of an injury and mortality reporting interface that it plans to make available to a variety of users to report bird and bat mortality and injury data. The USFWS Injury and Mortality Reporting (IMR) system was developed as part of the USFWS's Environmental Conservation Online System (ECOS), which is also home to the Information, Planning and Conservation (IPaC) system and a number of USFWS species conservation datasets and tools. The IMR system will allow for USFWS biologists and external users (e.g., federal agencies, tribes, state agencies, NGO’s, and select industry members with monitoring agreements with the USFWS) to create accounts to log bird mortality and injury data in the system. The system will help USFWS biologists better track and manage this information. It will also serve as a free tool to help users track and maintain their own data in a more standardized and organized fashion. The IMR system is expected to be released for use by USFWS staff in Spring/Summer 2015. After an as yet undetermined internal use period, the system will be made available for use by external users. For more information about IMR, and other tools, see the USFWS Decision Support Tools webpage.
