Dear Classics Colleagues,
We are now implementing a mentoring program for Latin teachers in California, focusing on pre-collegiate levels: elementary, middle, and high school. This web page has been established for the California Latin Teacher Mentoring Project as a place where teachers can easily reach out and request help or advice from a mentor teacher. These mentors teach all levels and have diverse expertise. They have volunteered to directly support those new teachers exiting our university credentialing programs, as well as returning teachers or others who may have some experience but are starting completely new classes or levels.
The need for mentoring and support among colleagues has never been greater. It is vitally important that established instructors network with new and transitioning Latin teachers to offer resources or advice, when needed. Strong teachers build strong programs, and strong programs build strong communities. To secure our future, we all want the Classics community to thrive in California.
We hope that new teachers will use the request form below, whenever they wish to reach out to their colleagues. We also invite established instructors to consider becoming a mentor in our program (Katie.robinson2@cox.net, kathrynchew@csulb.edu). Supporting and strengthening those teachers who are bringing up the next generation of Classics enthusiasts is of vital importance right now!
