As a 4-H club, we abide by all rules and regulations set in place by our local 4-H chapter.
A word about personal conduct in public forums:
Remember that when we wear our team T-shirts in public, or otherwise represent ourselves as members of a 4-H Robotics Club, we are affecting the reputation of the club as a whole. Additionally, comments on the internet, including Facebook, are considered public forums. It would be a noble goal to promote Gracious Professionalism in all aspects of our lives.
From the FIRST website: "Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community."
With this as our mindset, how we conduct ourselves becomes an easy decision. When in doubt, use Gracious Professionalism as your guide. Following are some rules that exemplify the behavior we want to promote when we meet or do activities as a club:
All parents must be actively involved in supporting the club and the teams in some way. Parents can participate as coach, coach assistant, mentor, leader, organizer, researcher, fundraiser, etc. We don't need all parents at every meeting, but we will need some parents at every meeting in order to encourage high-quality work.
No toys or games should be brought to meetings, as they can be major distractions. Out of respect for others, please come prepared to work on your designated projects.
Snacks are not provided as a club activity. Individual members are free to bring snacks for themselves or to share. Whomever brings a snack, is also responsible for the cleanup (litter removal, vacuuming, dish washing, etc).
