Class Notes & Assignments
Explanation of the Class
This course applies principles of robotics & automation. The course builds on computer solid modeling skills developed in Introduction to Engineering Design an Principles of Engineering. Students will learn to use CNC equipment to produce actual models of their 3 dimensional designs. Fundamental concepts of robotics used in automated manufacturing, and design analysis are included.
Computer Integrated Manufacturing is the third and final class offered in the area of engineering here at Cypress Bay. Students taking this class will draw upon the skills learned from the prior classes when working on projects. Students will learn MasterCAM, an industry based (CAM) program to design and create many different projects. The students will also be taught how to use Computer Numeric Controls (CNC) mills in order to complete the projects using the program. Upon completion of the program, students will be given the opportunity to take a certification exam over the usage of the MasterCAM software. Successfully passing the exam the students will earn a certification from MasterCAM, that can be used to obtain employment in the field. This class is also has the co-curricular component of SkillsUSA/BSTA, thus allowing students the opportunity to participate in engineering competitions at the local, state, and national levels. Participation in this club is highly encouraged.
Prerequisite: Introduction to Engineering, and Principles of Engineering
Special Note: Upon the successful completion of this and the other two engineering
classes, students will be eligible for Bright Futures Gold Seal Award.
BSTA/SkillsUSA Club Affiliation:
Students are strongly encouraged to join the co-curricular club BSTA/SkillsUSA. As a member of the club, students will be given the opportunity to practice their teamwork skills working with students from the other Engineering classes. They will be working on projects for their teachers, school, and the community. The students will also be given the opportunity to compete in the various competitions that we attend each year on the local, state, and national levels.
Club Membership Fee: $45.00
Payment Methods: Cash, Cashier Checks, or Money Orders.
Make them Payable to: Cypress Bay High School
Class Progression:
This is a year long class. Each quarter students will be responsible for the completion of various assignment based upon the lessons learned in class.
The class will cover the Following Topics:
1. CAD Skills Review - Review the skills learned from the prior classes AutoCAD Review -
We will revisit the skills learned about the AutoCAD program
2. Solidworks - This 3D design program is another program that we will learn to use this
year. is a
