Class Materials & Grading Information
For the Successful completion of the Engineering Classes, you will need the following materials:
1. Materials Grade
The grade for the class materials will be based upon the following values, and will not exceed 150 points.
1. Thumb Drive or Storage Device 50 pts.
2. Notebook with dividers 50 pts.
a. Class Rules & Expectations
b. Class Notes
c. Class Assignments
d. Handouts
3. Notebook Paper 25 pts.
4. 1/4" Graph Paper 25 pts.
5. #2 Pencil and Blue/Black Pen 25 pts.
2. Weekly Grades
Weekly Assignments Due at the end of a Lesson
a. Graphic Organizer 30 pts.
b. 15 Question Sq3r 15 pts.
c. Class/Homework Assignments 30 pts.
d. Current Event 20 pts.
e. Quizzes 20 pts
f. Practice Tests/Tests 50 - 100 pts
g. Projects 100 pts
3. Participation Grade: "During Projects"
Since this class will have various assignments that will span several days, students will receive a participation grade for their daily work during a project. 30 pts. will be awarded daily for those students who show that they are working and making progress on their projects/designs while in class. If a student is absent they will receive an "X" for the points awarded that day. These points will be added up and averaged by the number of days given for the completion of the project.
Present and participating in class 30 pts.
Absent and excused but shows progression 15 pts.
No progression, Not working on project 0 pts.
4. Projects
There will be various projects given during each quarter. Each project will be an assessment of knowledge and skills learned in the class. The project grades will be broken into 3 assignments.
a. Project Proposal & Plan 40 pts
b. Project Write-up 60 pts.
c. Project Build 100 pts.
5. Tests/Quizzes
Tests & Quizzes will be given periodically to assess the student's understanding of the lesson or information covered in the class. They may be presented to the students in a written format or as a skill application.
a. Quizzes 10 - 30 pts.
b. Tests 50 - 100 pts.
6. Notebook Check
During the quarter students will be required to keep a notebook for the storage of assignments that were graded. Students will be graded on the organization of their notebook at the end of the quarter. It is also important to have so that any and all make-up work can be kept in the Folder until the instructor calls for it on the CYA "Complete Your Assignment" Day.

7. Industrial Certifications
Students will be REQUIRED to take a Certification Exam associated with their course of study in Engineering. In addition to this Course Certification, students will be REQUIRED to take and pass a Certification Exam in a Microsoft Certification course in one of the following areas; Microsoft Office, Excel, and or PowerPoint. It is our program's goal to have each student earn a certification in their area of and the Microsoft Office Specialist, as they navigate through the Engineering Program. This certification is a valuable accreditation that is recognized in today's business world. It will provide our students with the necessary skills to build a strong college & career resume.
Student will be given several attempts to pass the Engineering Certification and the Microsoft Certification Exams This is part of the Final Exam. The certifications are NOT exemptable and must be completed by the end of the school year.
Student will be provided with instruction and multiple preparation tools for them to use in order to be successful in passing the certification exams.
8. CYA - Day
The CYA "Complete Your Assignment" Day, is a day in which I allow students a chance to turn in up to 10 assignments that they have received a Zero on during the quarter. This day does not include assignments that you receive partial grades on. It will be assigned 1 week prior to the end of a quarter and students may only make up the assignments that have been designated CYA eligible. Some of the assignments are as follows:
a. Graphic Organizers
b. 15 Question Sq3r Study Questions
c. Weekly Assignments
(as listed on the Weekly Graphic Organizer)
d. Project Write-ups.
Students who choose to participate in the CYA Day can receive up to 100% of the original assignment value based upon completion, & Correctness. When turning in CYA assignments the students must follow the criteria set below:
a. Have Name & Date on the assignment
b. Have the Assignment presented in the correct order in which it
was originally assigned.
c. Have it correctly labeled and Identified
d. And Most of all, Make sure that it was complete
CYA is a last resort for students to raise their grades in class. It is not meant as a safety net and students should not rely on solely on CYA to achieve your grade, it is only there to assist students who fall behind during the quarter and need a little help catching up.
