Lampenflora study

This study uses the Underground Laboratory in Closani to investigate the algae and cyanobacteria grow unde diferent sources of light that are currently used in show caves of Romania. A total of 6 experimental stands have been built, each one being fitted with a different type of light, including incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lamps, halogen, cold LEDs, RGB LEDs, etc. Lampenflora is cultivated here under strictly controled conditions, including alternative lighting that follows normal working cycles of a show cave.

Lampenflora remediation solutions

The purpose of this experiment is to test various chemical solutions for lampenflora removal depending on substrate and environmental conditions. The solutions are tested in a number of selected areas from Ursilor Cave, one of the most affected by this "show cave plague".
