The CAVEMONITOR International Workshop
Microclimatic, biologic and radiation monitoring of caves
October 17-19, 2016 – Ursilor Cave, Romania
RATIONALE
Monitoring of physical, chemical, and biological parameters are important for the management of show caves before, during, and after their development as touristic attractions. This International Workshop will bring together professionals from various fields with an expertise in cave monitoring. This includes but is not limited to show caves. We are also pleased to host colleagues with expertise in monitoring “wild caves” for other reasons (e.g. paleoclimate reconstruction purposes, fauna monitoring, Radon measurements). Representatives of companies that sell cave monitoring equipment are also welcomed. This meeting is a not-for-profit one: we only offer the opportunity of people working in this field to come together, share their experiences, and look for possible improvements.
TOPICS
monitoring of cave microclimate and hydrology;
cave climate modeling and paleoclimate proxies calibration;
cave drip water chemistry and interpretation;
cave fauna monitoring;
microbiological monitoring in show caves;
Radon levels measurement and monitoring;

The workshop will be held in the village of Chiscau, Bihor County, NW Romania. This is the village where the most visited cave of Romania, Ursilor (=Bears) Cave is located.
