20 January 1966, Thursday - Made quilt for Darlene's bunk bed.
21 January - Went to Cokeville with Phyllis Robinson to the County Planning Board. Very informative and interesting.
22 January - Stake Relief Society meeting. All but 2 were there. I made 30 funny paper hats for officers for Mutual Improvement Association music festival band.
23 January, Sunday - Dr. & Mrs. Worthen came to visit an hour or two. Almon and Mary came for a while.
24 January - Made another bunk bed quilt for Darlene. Marie & Jeanette came to help. I tended Joy Erickson’s 2 kids.
25 January, Tuesday - Went to Relief Society meeting in morning. Heard 5 convicts from State penitentiary give program. Very interesting. Music festival at night, 65 took part.
26 January, Wednesday - Quilted on crib quilt for Jeanette. Got the family letters. Bound both bunk quilts -on machine. Went to Daughters of Utah Pioneers at Melva Bassett's at night.
27 January, Thursday - Went to Smoot to see Minnie Swenson. She's sick with stroke. Bishop and Delsa (Erickson) went too. Leslie had a kidney stone at work so I finished. He got better and did chores.
28 January, Friday - Tended Joyce Wyatt's 4 kids. Grace (Erickson) paid me.
29 January, Saturday - Went to Montpelier. I drove the new car for first time. So did Vicki. Got new shoes at Montpelier.
30 January, Sunday - Not very well. Late for Sunday School. Reorganized Sunday School class, I was released as V. President. NaDee & Jack called. They've decided to go to Hawaii for at least 1 year. Jack has a real good offer to teach at the University of Hawaii with $4,000 raise.
31 January, Monday - Washed - a big one. Started a quilt for Mrs. Worthen.
1 February, 1966, Tuesday - Got clothes in to finish drying. Showed Eva Mills Grandma's house. Quilted.
2 February, Wednesday - Tended Joyce (Wyatt)’s 4 kids, Beth (Hoopes Burton)'s 3 boys and Ernest during Mildred Hoopes’ funeral. Joyce and Linda paid me. Quilted.
3 February, Thursday - Finished quilting. Scrubbed Boyd's office. Hands ache.
4 February, Friday - Bound part of quilt. Ernest stayed here during basketball game. Laverne had boy. Washed Power & Light dust rags and mops.
5 February, Saturday - Home all day. Finished binding Mrs. Worthen's quilt. It took most of day. Ironed an hour or two while watching T. V. Leslie started putting cellatex on back porch.
6 February, Sunday - Fast day.
7 February, Monday - Mrs. Worthen came for her quilt. She paid me $10. I was going to charge her less but she insisted. We had a nice visit. Got a letter from Dennis. He did better than we thought on his marks, all except Math. He'll likely take it over.
8 February, Tuesday - No Relief Society meeting as the furnace is broke. I tended Joy Erickson's kids. Mutual Improvement Association at night. They fixed the furnace.
9 February 1966, Wednesday - Took Ken a pint of cream. Stake Relief Society Board meeting at night. Karla tended Gladys Lancaster's kids for 31/2 hours service.
10 February, Thursday - Cut Jeanette's hair—we made 2 batches of peanut brittle. Relief Society today. I quilted until 4 p.m. Showed Mrs. Jeff Heap the house. Went to show "How the West Was Won" for activity for Home Evening.
11 February, Friday - Tended Joy E.’s kids again. Started to embroider a pair of pillow slips. Leslie to creamery meeting at 10 a.m. He got home at 6:15 so we didn't finish Power & Light work. Vicki tended Gladys’ kids for 3 hours service. Cut Karla's hair. It looks cute.
12 February 1966, Saturday - Dad and I went to work for about 3 hours this a.m. Adele & Noel came for an overnight. They haven't been here since Christmas. They slept at Vena's.
13 February, Sunday - Sunday School. Adele & Noel went home. Quite stormy. Darlene & Charles called at night. Church at night.
14 February, Monday - Sold garments at Clarissa Merritt's after 11 a.m. Dad had creamery meeting. Karla played Volleyball at Thayne. Vicki stayed at school to practice for "The Sound of Music."
15 February 1966, Tuesday - Went to Relief Society meeting. At work I slipped and fell flat on my back. It didn't hurt me though. Valentine dance at Mutual Improvement Association.
16 February, Wednesday - Finished embroidering a pair of pillow slips. Very pretty. I'm teaching Joyce Taylor’s primary class, as her father died. Mixed bread. Got family letter. Pay day. Mutual Improvement Association Stake meeting at Afton.
17 February, Thursday - Adele & Noel left for Las Vegas, Nevada vacation. Vena has their kids. I rode to Montpelier with her and Jeff. He drove Otto Stephen's car home. Vena, the kids, & I came in their car. Quilted for a while at Alta's.
18 February, Friday - Tended Joy E.’s kids. She paid me $9 for 3 times. Dad & girls went to ball game with Jackson. Darlene and Chuck came for an overnight visit.
19 February, Saturday - Vicki went to Idaho Falls temple for Seminary baptisms. We brought Adele's kids out to play with the Jones boys. Vena & Jeff took them to Idaho Falls in afternoon. Chuck & Darlene left about 4. It was good to see them. They brought us some snow tires for the new car. We gave them the bunk bed quilts.
20 February, Sunday - Stake Conference all day. Dad didn't go in a.m. as he had a headache. He went in p.m. Vicki to party for Linda Gomm. Darlene called and said Martin & Forrest have the chickenpox. We think Adele's kids had them. We hope so.
21 February 1966, Monday - Answered family letter. Got another family letter. Went to Daughters of Utah Pioneers, gave lesson.
22 February, Tuesday - Went to Relief Society meeting in Smoot. Leslie has a holiday for Washington's birthday. No Mutual Improvement Association as the furnace is broke.
23 February, Wednesday - Studied lesson for Relief Society Stake meeting Saturday. Bought flower for Minnie.
24 Feb 1966, Thursday - Drove up to Smoot to see Minnie Swenson and take a flower. Mary Bell and her mother went with me. Leslie to creamery meeting.
25 February, Friday - Made 2 cherry pies for Ward reunion. Studied Relief Society lesson for tomorrow. Operetta "The Music Man" tonight. Vicki helps sing. It was about the best play I have ever seen and I was proud of the High School band too. The motor for Church furnace is broke and didn't (work) tonight as they had promised. I wonder what they will do for the Ward reunion tomorrow.
26 February, Saturday - Leslie went to Ogden with creamery directors. We got Karla a new pair of dress shoes. Stake Relief Society meeting. Ward reunion. Rondo (Olson) was M.C.
27 February, Sunday - Sunday School. Merettie & Ernest came to hear his Sunday School lessons on the Talking machine. Church at night.
28 February, Monday - Tended Joy E.’s 2 kids. Cut Marie's hair. Went to stork shower for Audrey Bassett.
1 March 1966, Tuesday - Tended Joy's kids. Went to Delsa's about Bee Hive work. Mutual Improvement Association at night. Pay day.
2 March, Wednesday - Tending Joy's 2 and Joyce's 4 kids. Moulded chocolates and dipped them. They are for Lucile to give to Ammon on his birthday, March 6. Leslie to priesthood meeting. Snowed 6 inches last night.
3 March, Thursday - Tending Joy's and Joyce's kids. Made candied popcorn so they would have some to take home. Lucile came for chocolates. Scrubbed hall, foyer, & Ken's. Called Adele - they've been sick.
4 March, Friday - No school today. Went grocery shopping. Vicki sewed herself a nightgown and Karla a gray skirt.
5 March, Saturday - Went to Ira Izatt's funeral. Tended Joy E.’s kids from 1 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. while they were to Tourney at Kemmerer. L.D. & Peggy Frome & kids were here to visit from Cowley.
6 March, Sunday - No church as the furnace is broke. We went to Fairview for Sunday School and Fast meeting. Came home & got pan of scalloped potatoes and went to Vearl & Dona's for dinner.
7 March, Monday - Tended Joyce's kids. Snowed about 4 inches.
8 March, Tuesday - Washed in morning, went up and dried it at the Laundry. Had side ache. Went to Relief Society meeting and rummage sale. Got some nice things. Mutual Improvement Association at night.
9 March 1966, Wednesday - Dennis' youngest heifer had a heifer calf. Lloyd Roberts died with a heart attack. I went to Stake meeting at night.
10 March 1966, Thursday - Chuck's horny cow had a bull calf today. Vicki is tending Brough's kids while they are at a Seminary conference at Montpelier.
11 March, Friday - Leslie went to creamery meeting at noon. I went up to Clarissa Merritt's to sell garments from 12 to 3.
12 March, Saturday - Went to Lloyd Roberts funeral with Carolyn, Merettie, Alta & Leslie. Vicki tended Carolyn's kids. Vicki took a Civil Service test for a summer job.
13 March, Sunday -I gave the lesson in Sunday School for Dora Hillstead. Typed 12 creamery minutes for Leslie. I still have 24. Marie & Bernice Roberts brought a quilt for me to make. Went to church at night. Budd Pead family gave program. Drew design for quilt after church.
14 March 1966, Monday – I put quilt on after I had marked it. I started quilting at 2:30. Leslie helped me put it on. He went to the doctor today and he took another electrocardiogram. His heart keeps skipping beats. He doesn't have any pain, just gets short breath. I think he has been working a little too hard.
15 March, Tuesday - Quilting. I went to Afton 1st Ward's Relief Society party. Got home at 1 p.m. Lucile came to phone. She's coming to quilt tomorrow. I did Power & Light janitor work alone. Went to Mutual. Karla came home at noon from school with a bad headache. She felt a little better & went to Mutual Improvement Association.
16 March 1966, Wednesday - Leslie went to work today, he doesn't feel much different but is in no pain. I taught his Primary class. Those kids—4 boys—were the best class I've ever had. Lucile helped quilt until Primary time. Vicki came home sick so I didn't go to Mutual Improvement Association Stake meeting. We watched and listened to the astronauts. They had to come down early.
17 March, Thursday - Quilted. Lucile and Jeanette helped. Bill visited with Leslie.
18 March, Friday - Jeanette came and helped quilt. Lucile came for awhile before bus time. I finished it about 8:30 p.m. Now just to bind it. It will probably take a whole day.
19 March, Saturday - Went to temple. We went through once and did some sealings. Besides Leslie and me, there were Albon and Dora, Dave and Alta, Vearl and Dona, Merettie, Adele, Gray and Dora. We rode down with Gray & Dora and took Vicki and Karla to tend Adele's kids. Adele brought us home and visited overnight. We went to the Relief Society anniversary party. They honored Aunt Bess.
20 March, Sunday – Boy, I'm tired. We got up yesterday a.m. at 3:15 and to bed at after 10:30 so 6:30 came real early. Adele and kids went to Sunday School with us. They went about 3 to visit Vena for awhile before they went home.
21 March 1966, Monday - First day of Spring. It's snowing and cold. It is LaRue's birthday. She is 43. Went to Daughters of Utah Pioneers at Barbara Veigel's. I won the gift. Clarissa called and said they would like me to go to Riverside with them to Phyllis Robinson's dad's funeral if it isn't too stormy.
22 March 1966, Tuesday - Went to Riverside to Ralph Richard's funeral. Darlene & Billy came and we had a good visit. I went with Oz & Clarissa Merritt, Nora Kellersberger, Eliza Robinson, and Margaret Winters. We didn't get home until 8:15 so I missed Mutual Improvement Association.
23 March, Wednesday - Tended Joy's kids all day and Joyce's 1/2 day Studied Relief Society Stake lesson.
24 March, Thursday - Tended Joyce's 4 kids. Karla's volleyball team played Afton 2nd. They won the first 2 games so didn't have to play the 3rd. They play Afton 3rd tomorrow night. I hope they win. They sure played good tonight.
25 March, Friday - Tended Joyce's 4 kids. Leslie went to creamery to help guide tours, from 12 to 4 o'clock. We went to work. Also watched Karla's volleyball team get beat. They have one more game. Went to Lion's program at night. Very good.
26 March 1966, Saturday - We went to work for a couple of hours. Stake meeting in Bedford. Leslie went to creamery to guide tours again.
27 March, Sunday - I gave Sunday School lesson for Dora. Went up to see Minnie Swenson. She is getting better physically. Her strokes she has had have made her forget a lot. I got the master copies for life stories to have duplicated for Stake Relief Society ladies.
28 March, Monday - Defrosted refrigerator. Washed—a big one. Hung it outside. Things really smell good hung on the line. Went to High School to get materials for taking school census. Several changes this year. The car stopped on the way to work. We thought we were out of gas at first. We drove Bishop Erickson's pickup home. They are going to try to fix it tomorrow. It turned over 141,000 miles just before it quit.
29 March, Tuesday - No Relief Society meeting today as it is a 5th Tuesday. Got family letter. Marilyn is in bed with a slipped disc but says she's better - we called her. Helped Mary quilt for awhile before work. Watched Karla's volleyball team lose a game. Speech festival at Mutual Improvement Association. I took charge. Vicki gave a real good talk.
30 March, Wednesday - Got up at 5 a.m. and bound one side of the quilt. I hope I can finish it today. Leslie sure doesn't feel good. His heart skips so many beats it makes him short of breath and worries him a lot. I finished the quilt. It is really pretty. Wrote talk on Home Teaching for Leslie for Stake Priesthood meeting.
31 March 1966, Thursday - The last day of March. The snow is sure going fast but there still must be 10 inches on the level. I gave the home evening lesson.
1 April 1966, Friday - Cleaned house all day until time to go to work. The sewer pipes are frozen again. We went to High School play "The Robe" at night. Good.
2 April 1966, Saturday - Finished cleaning house. 4-H Club meeting today. Leslie worked all day at the Power & Light trying to thaw out the sewer pipe. Vicki tended the Brough's kids all day from 8 to 6 for $3. Karla went skating for Patty Pead's birthday party.
3 April, Sunday - Fast Day, Sunday School. We brought Ernest over for the day. Darlene & Chuck came for a few hours. They had been to Colorado, to Laramie, to see Dennis, to Thermopolis and Riverton and were on their way home. They would have traveled about 1500 miles since Thursday night, by the time they got home.
4 April 1966, Monday - Tending Joy Erickson's 2 kids, Colby has chickenpox. Wrote family letter. Studied story of Resurrection to give to all the Primary. Wednesday 4-H Club meeting here after school. Home Teachers came.
5 April, Tuesday - Richard's birthday. Tending Joy's kids. Worked on school census papers. Went to work. Leslie worked all day. They dug up the sewer line. It was packed clear full with tree roots. Mutual at night.
6 April, Wednesday - Tended Joy’s kids. Got up early and popped 2 pans of popcorn to make popcorn balls for Grace Erickson. Studied talk for Primary. Gave Easter Story. Dennis came about 10 p.m.
7 April, Thursday - Tended Joy's kids. Grace got popcorn balls, paid me $1.50.
8 April 1966, Friday - Got up early and went to Jackson to see new ski set up. Really fabulous. We stopped at Creamery and had a sundae. Dad had a meeting at 12:30. Went shopping for groceries. Darlene & Chuck were here when we got home from work. Leslie got there at 5:45. Chuck brought us a cow; her name is Matilda. They put her on some cement blocks to milk, as her bag is too low for the milker.
9 April, Saturday - Cleaned house. Darlene scrubbed all the floors. Dad, Dennis, & Chuck went fishing. We watched Conference. Ammon took Dennis to Snake River fishing. Chuck and Darlene were going home but decided to stay so he could go listen to Priesthood Conference. He wore one of Dennis' suits. Adele & Noel came for Easter. The kids colored 4 dozen eggs. We hid them before bedtime after the kids were asleep.
10 April, Sunday - Easter. Darlene's went home. Adele & I listened to conference. The others went to Sunday School. Listened to conference in p.m. They left at 3:30. Church at night. Leslie gave a talk. It was good.
11 April 1966, Monday - Got up early and started breakfast, then took Dennis' clothes and washed them at laundry. Vicki & Karla got breakfast. I'm tending Joyce's 4 kids. I ironed all morning— Dennis' things. Got dinner and Dennis left about 12:45. He took the old car back to Laramie. I surely hated to see him go so far alone. 4-H Club at 4 p.m. While I took the club kids home Joyce came for her kids. She left $15 for me.
12 April, Tuesday - Washed clothes. Went to Relief Society meeting. Wrote news. Mutual Improvement Association at night. I took charge. I taught a class too.
13 April, Wednesday - Nora Kellersberger came to get some papers. We talked for a long time. Clarissa Merritt came to get a recipe. I went to practice song for Primary. Leslie went up to Leora's to help organize the Hendersons for genealogy work. I tended Ernest. Ironed until time for work. Stake Board meeting at night. The girls went to the show.
14 April, Thursday - Ironed all morning, went over to see about Grandma's house. Howard Anderson and new Dutch bride are the renters. We waited for Darlene and Chuck until 5 and went to work. They were going to come this afternoon. Had home evening at 4 p.m. Darlene and Charles came about 9 p.m.
15 April 1966, Friday - Boy, This is one of those days. I got up at 5, got breakfast for Darlene's family. Went to town at 5:30 and got the mops, etc. at Power & Light to wash. Washed and dried things and when I saw Darlene's car coming, I went out and talked them into letting the boys stay while they went to the farm in Riverton. The boys were glad to stay. We came home and had breakfast. Joyce brought her 4 kids at 8 and Linda brought her 2 at 9. So we have 9 kids here. Marie Olson came for me to cut her hair like I cut mine. I got all the kids to sleep at once. Leslie got home for lunch at 1:45. The kids and I had a picnic on the lawn.
16 April 1966, Saturday - Went to creamery annual meeting with Dave & Alta as Leslie had a meeting at 10 a.m. The lunch was good and the meeting interesting. They gave everyone a pound of cheese and butter. We went to Thayne to Mutual Study party. Ricks College put on the program. Carolyn took us. Vicki tended Carolyn's kids and Karla tended Darlene's.
17 April, Sunday - Bathed the Jones boys and went to Sunday School. Darlene & Chuck came just when dinner was ready. They took the 2 bulls (ballies) to Utah. Primary family program in church at night. Vicki and I helped them sing because they needed altos. Watched "North to Alaska" on television. Typed some things for Stake Relief Society.
18 April, Monday - Got up at 5 to finish typing so Leslie could take them to Ouida Nield this morning. Daughters of Utah Pioneers at Aunt Helen's. I took gift.
19 April, Tuesday - I typed minutes for Leslie all morning. Went to Relief Society meeting in p.m. and to Mutual Improvement Association at night. I visited Beehive class. Vicki rehearsed play. We took Jan H. and Debbie A. home.
20 April 1966, Wednesday - Got up early. Finished typing Creamery minutes for Leslie. Visited Relief Society meeting at Afton 2. Leslie and Levon had hearing on water. Leslie had to send a recorder $25 in advance and then he didn't come after all, so they had me be the recorder. Everything has to be legal. I typed it up at Power & Light while we were at work. Went to Mutual Improvement Association Stake meeting with Wilda Olson at night.
21 April, Thursday - Taking school census. Got most of Osmond done. Vicki gave home evening lesson. Darlene & Chuck came and stayed overnight on their way to Riverton.
22 April, Friday - Adele & Noel came about 10 a.m. to bring their kids and "Ming" the Siamese cat. They went to Salt Lake to some meetings for Noel's company. We went up and got shingles, fruit, etc. from old cellar building as they are going to burn the house tomorrow. Vicki went to Rexburg to contest in book keeping. She doesn't know how she came out.
23 April, Saturday - The girls and Julie and Karla went up to watch the Afton firemen burn the old house by Merettie's house. It was just an eyesore. Stake Relief Society meeting. The last one until next fall. Each Board member and Relief Society Ward President brought a casserole or salad to serve after meeting. I took potatoes au gratin. Vicki and Karla went to serve for service hours. Adele and Noel came about 9 p.m.
24 April, Sunday - I gave Sunday School lesson for Dora in Gospel Doctrine class. Took the girls & Mary Jean to chorus practice for Stake Conference on May 8. Vicki gave a talk in church at night.
25 April, Monday - Took school census in Fairview. I took Ernest with me all day and took him home after work & supper at night.
26 April, Tuesday - Took School Census in Smoot. It really stormed all day. I finished before I came home and the snow got about 4 inches deep. Drama night in Mutual. Vicki was in a 1-act play and Karla was in a blackout.
27 April, Wednesday - Jeanette came down and I cut her hair and made 2 batches of peanut brittle. Marilyn called to see if we'd tend the kids while they went to Las Vegas on vacation. I washed while Leslie was to Primary. Went to High School musical festival. Vicki was in the chorus.
28 April 1966, Thursday - Got up early and did part of ironing. Worked on school census and went up to turn it in at 10 a.m. Got done at 12:30 and we left for Woodruff to get Marilyn & Duane's kids. We both got there at the same time. We visited a few minutes and came home. We had a flat tire on the way out there. Debbie has the measles but isn’t sick. I hope she is all right. Boy, this is a day I'll remember. Bishop Kay (Erickson) came this morning and asked me to be Relief Society president. I told him I'd have to think about it and talk it over with Leslie. I told him at night I would try it. I fasted all day because I need help to choose counselors. It is Robert's birthday.
29 April, Friday - The kids have had fun playing all day. Debbie is better. Darlene & Chuck came on way to Riverton.
30 April, Saturday - Lynn Welch came to look at the place to run it. I hope he does. We went to town so the kids could buy gifts for Leslie's birthday. We bought $20 of groceries, including flour & sugar. Adele & kids came. Noel is fishing at Palisades. Vicki went to Kemmerer to the music festival. Genevieve came and the bus left them so Leslie decided after a few minutes he would try to catch it. He did at Border. Had to go 95 mph to catch them. Of course the milkman had gone before he got back, so he only got the night's milk off, but no matter. Vena came out to visit for awhile.
1 May, Sunday - This is the day!! Adele & kids came out to Sunday School. Leslie stayed home with Debbie and then Adele took Karen home to tend kids while Dad came to church. They put me in as Relief Society President, Audry Lainhart 1st Counselor, and RaKell Titensor as Secretary. I don't have another counselor yet but will. Leslie & I went to Ward Council meeting. Vena & Jeff Swenson came to visit for a while before Adele & kids went home. Marie & DeRell came for awhile. The kids all gave Leslie his birthday presents.
2 May, Monday - Leslie's birthday. We made 4 apple pies and 6 quarts ice cream. The kids had fun freezing it. They also churned. I went to Leath's and got material and instructions for Relief Society president. Had club meeting at Delsa's; we made a relish tray. Came home from work at 6:15 as Marilyn & Duane came to get their kids and are going home tonight. They have a new station wagon. Duane bought some hamburger for barbeque for supper, also buns and grape juice. We ate & visited and then they went home. They made a bed in the back so the kids could sleep. The girls & I went and finished the janitor work and Leslie milked. We all finished about 10 p.m. I studied an hour on my duties, etc. Lanky had her calf today.
3 May, Tuesday - My first Relief Society meeting where I took charge. It went just fine. I'm glad I have Audry by my side to help me. Bought material for Vicki to make her graduation dress. Went to Mutual Improvement Association. They asked me to give the lesson even though I've been released. Mr. Coates started to plow tonight. I surely wish we could find a renter for this place. Leslie just doesn't feel like doing it and is so worried about it. I wish they could put it in the soil bank or something. The tractor quit today. I hope we don't have to buy another one.
4 May, Wednesday - Dad borrowed a tractor from Don Wood to disk with. Mr. Coates finished plowing. Cost $131. I taught the Guides in Primary for Dad. Audry & I went to see the Van Scoyks.
5 May, Thursday - Worked and washed. Kim E. came to level the field. Wrote to NaDee, Virden, & Dennis. Vicki tended Brough's kids.
6 May 1966, Friday - Vicki didn't have school today. She finished making her Seminary graduation dress. It's really pretty. I sewed on the dress Marilyn gave me the cloth for. It looks big enough for an elephant. It's too big for me but I'll take it in a little. Karla won 5 ribbons in the field day contests, all for studiness, none for sports. Leslie went to creamery meeting & we went to Lynn Rodger’s shower. NaDee called and said they'll be here on June 9. She's getting cold feet about going to Hawaii, she said. Delos Gardner came and said Vicki was going to get a scholarship. I hope it's the 4 year one. Vicki & I made a resolve.
7 May, Saturday - We worked for 2 1/2 hours at Power & Light. Leslie got out in the field and found they had come and taken the tractor so he had to get another one—it is smaller & slower. I went to welfare meeting at 4:40 and at 7:30; very good. The girls & I went to Jan & Ted Harmon's shower. Vicki finished my new dress. It is pretty but a little big.
8 May, Sunday - Conference all day. We took 3 cream pies. Osmond Sunday School served lunch at noon. All 4 of us helped. I helped wash dishes. We stayed to the Speech festival afterwards.
9 May, Monday - Took cake to Ted Ashment's. Alene is in Salt Lake City hospital. Club meeting. Made 6 salads. Took Alene's ironing to Genevieve to do. Vicki & Karla both have all their service hours. Vicki found out today that she is going to get a 4 year scholarship. We are all glad. She went to the Honor Society banquet tonight & helped sing. Leslie went to Stake Primary meeting.
10 May, Tuesday - Made two big fruit salads. Made casserole to take to Relief Society meeting. Didn't get quilt finished but will in the morning. There were 27 to meeting today, a real good crowd. Mutual Improvement Association. I taught the class again.
11 May 1966, Wednesday - Went to Church house at 9 a.m. and some of us finished the quilt.
12 May, Thursday - Went to the Awards Assembly at the High School. Vicki got the 4-year scholarship and a $300 per year teacher's scholarship. We are really proud of her. Darlene & Chuck came and stayed overnight. I took cookies to Earl & Verla Ashment.
13 May 1966, Friday - Got up early & loaded Chuck's five cattle and got breakfast for them. They left the boys here. We all went to Seminary graduation at night. Forrest slept all during the program. Vicki sang in a quartet.
14 May, Saturday - Went to town shopping. Leslie & Almon put the linoleum on the cabinet at Grandma's house.
15 May, Sunday - Went to Sunday School. Harl called and said Ray is awfully sick. He had a heart attack and isn't responding to treatment very well. He has been in Veteran hospitals more than he has been out for the past ten or more years. The boys all went down to see him. I called Reed when they got back & talked to Ruby. The doctor told Edna he could go any time. I would sure like to go down to see him but don't suppose I'll get to. Vicki sang in Church tonight. Darlene & Chuck came for their kids about 6 p.m. Welfare meeting after church.
16 May, Monday - Washed. It was rainy but they got dry and I got them in. Club meeting. I went to see Delsa E. and Aleen Ashment who are ill. Daughters of Utah Pioneers meeting with Minnie S. at Lillian Johnson's.
17 May, Tuesday - Ironed some. Put $125 more in my savings. Relief Society meeting. Lanea gave the Social Science lesson. 23 present, a good crowd. Didn't go to Mutual Improvement Association as there was a party & Leslie wasn't going—too late choring. The girls took box lunches & boys bought them & ate with them.
18 May 1966, Wednesday - Finished ironing. Helped Leslie on tractor. It has rust in the gas tank. I taught his Guide Class for him. Went to town three times for gas. Did janitor work alone. Karla helped dust. Leslie finished leveling. Got drill oiled & ready to finish planting barley.
19 May, Thursday - We finished drilling late this afternoon. Adele and kids came and the kids rode with me on the tractor to drill, one at a time, and Adele helped Leslie set posts & fix fence. We went to Vicki's High School graduation at night. It was really nice. Vicki sang with a group and she also said the closing prayer. Adele and kids stayed up to Vena's because we are going to Laramie in the morning.
20 May 1966, Friday - We got up early and left for Laramie at 7:15. We had a really good trip. Made it in 7 hours. Dennis wasn't home so we went to the Institute. Larry Lawton and Ida Beth went to find him. He is on crutches. He threw his knee out last Saturday and he still has to keep off from it for at least another week. His hands and underarms are really sore. I feel real sorry for him but he doesn't complain or make any fuss. Larry Lawton let us stay in his apartment so it didn't cost us anything for rooms. Dennis graduated from the L.D.S. Institute at night. It only took him two years, which is really good as it usually takes three years. They had a reception afterward, and we met many of Dennis' friends. Sharlene Jamison took Vicki & Karla over to see the dorm where she lives.
21 May, Saturday - We went to Cheyenne to see the capitol. It was closed but we walked around and went shopping. We all went to the baseball game—Wyoming vs. University of Utah. It was really good, score: Wyo. 4, U of U 3. It was very good. One of Dennis' roommates is a relief pitcher.
22 May, Sunday - Went to Sunday School. Dennis is Sunday School Superintendent. They have a nice ward, all single college kids. Bill Hastings taught the class. Bill & Joel administered the sacrament, Rachel led singing, a young man played. We got home at 6:30, just in time to milk and go to Church. They put Ruth Swenson in as my second counselor in Relief Society.
23 May, Monday - Took Ruth's material over to her & we went to town & got things for closing social.
24 May, Tuesday - Relief Society Closing Social. A big crowd attended. We served strawberry nut sundaes. It was really nice. More talent than ever. I wish some of the Stake Board had been there to hear it. Mutual Improvement Association at night.
25 May, Wednesday - Taught Leslie's Primary class. Hauled rocks. I forgot that I was supposed to go Relief Society teaching with Rhea. We'll go tomorrow. Girls went to dentist. Vicki to Sunday School Stake meeting.
26 May, Thursday - Went Relief Society teaching with Rhea. Washed clothes. Virden & Jean came at 10 p.m. from Corvallis, Oregon. They really look good. They are going to LaFayette, Indiana to Purdue University.
27 May, Friday - Visited, got dinner, cleaned the house. Went to show "That Darn Cat." Virden's went over to Hood's after dinner. Adele & Noel came while we were to the show, so they stayed at Vena's.
28 May 1966, Saturday - Noel brought his motorcycle so all the kids had a ride. He had to go back to Idaho Falls to unload some trucks. Adele visited at Vena's in the p.m. so Virden's and we went visiting Alta & Dona.
29 May, Sunday - Sunday School. Dinner. Noel took all the kids for rides. Virden took himself. Church at night. Vicki sang. Onos Henderson visited in the afternoon.
30 May, Monday - Decoration Day. I got up early & made cake, salad, sandwiches, butter, casserole, etc. for picnic. We went to cemetery, then to church for lunch. We put up tables on the north side and ate outside. Leslie & families went to Leora's to meeting for Henderson genealogy.
31 May 1966, Tuesday - Went to Audry’s so we could decide who to go with who Relief Society teaching. Mutual Improvement Association at night. I taught the class.
1 June 1966, Wednesday - Vicki's Birthday. We made her angel food cake & went to town for presents. Leslie had a cat come to build a dam across the creek. It cost $18.
3 June, Friday - We went to town & bought wallpaper and came home and papered the kitchen. In the p.m. we did the front room papering with Virden's and Jean's help. It looks good. I didn't go to work at night.
4 June, Saturday - Washed. Virden & Jean came. We had a good visit. Jean brought two of her paintings for us to hang for awhile. They are really nice. Leslie irrigated all day & Virden did the ditching and mowed the lawn. They have stayed over to Hood's every night but the first one.
5 June, Sunday - Sunday School. I taught a Junior Sunday School class. Fast meeting. Dennis came in the night - 2:30 a.m.
6 June, Monday - Went to work before 5 a.m. as we didn't get it done Friday. Visited with the kids. Baked bread, biscuits, cookies, & cakes. To work at night.
