S. L. Juveniles Plague Police on Week End
Young G. I. Held On Burglary, AWOL Counts
Gerald Bueter captures young burglar at gunpoint.
A burglar, two curfew violators, a knife wielder and a gang of youthful arsonists, all under 21 years of age, were the leading problems of Salt Lake police over the Labor Day week end.
An 18-year-old soldier from McDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Fla., terminated an admitted series of western states' bur-glaries Monday about 3:25 a.m. when he stood face to face with one of his intended victims.
Gerald Bueter, an employee of Beehive Cleaners, 140 N. 2nd West, who resides in the rear of the establishment, ended the al-leged crime trail for the young suspect.
Heard Window Crash
The suspect reportedly broke a window to the cleaning plant only to be faced with a gun held by Mr. Bueter, who had heard the crash of the window.
The suspect was booked in city jail for investigation of “burglary and AWOL.”
Booked in city jail for investigation of “assault with a deadly weapon” was a 19-year-old youth who was identified by two girls and a woman as having threatened them with a knife late Sat-urday and late Sunday.
