Celia Bueter

Celia Bueter

Celia Bueter was born about 1867 to John R. Bueter and Margerett Kraft. She married Alfred Reece, who managed a diamond mine in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was a paint artist. She went blind as a result of a malaria treatment needle accident onboard a ship going from India to South Africa. The needle was intended to treat one eye, but pierced the good eye by accident. She was divorced and returned to Nebraska. Celia wrote for the Chicago Sun Newspaper. She traveled often, carrying $1 bills and not other bills so she knew how much she had. She was tall, thin, and aristocratic.
