I don't compete in competitions for several reasons. Low body fat levels are unhealthy in my opinion and required if you intend to win against others going that low. Taking a trophy by default is not earning it. It's not how others see me, it's how I see myself that is important. Strong mind, strong body.
My veins will pop up with correct breathing during posing. Anytime you workout, always breathe correctly to enhance your strength, it will benefit your total body workout. Bodybuilding is up to each individual as to how they want to build and sculpt while shaping their body. While I'm able to build good muscle and size, I will not bodybuild past a safe point. My bones/joints/ligament/tendons would be stressed is why. Close to 60 yrs old I surely don't want injuries and pain from working out.
Being fit is also a state of mind. I don't drive myself to go harder, and harder. I focus on staying fit. Working out can relieve stress. which is a huge factor in many of our lives. I like to workout by myself so I can concentrate and focus on my workout. There is a set point for all of us to where we can naturally build. The key word here is "naturally" because you can only build so much muscle depending on your size, genetics and gender. Women won't build a lot of muscle like men, no matter how much we lift, we lack the higher testosterone levels of men. I like to maintain an average size while keeping good strength and endurance. Keeping my body fat just slightly lower than average, I can still see my abs. Working out is for life, so enjoy what you have and make the best of it. You only have one body, be smart about it, keep proper form while lifting and maintain realistic goals. Don't forget cardio exercise. Learn how to change it up and not become conditioned to the same exercises.
