We went to Lido di Jesolo with a view to visiting Venice (which we did). Venice is located in a huge lagoon and this spreads far into the surrounding lowlands where there are many canals and dykes.

On a walk out of the town of Jesolo we were amazing to see the following in a canal/dyke:

First of all were about 6 Turtles in the water.

Then I spotted something move in the bushes.

At first we were not quite sure what we were looking at, but after studying the animal for a few minutes and zooming in with the Video camera we were thrilled to find we had not only seen but filmed our first Otter in the wild.
