PacePlus Overview
What is PACE? PACE (Patient-centered Assessment and Counseling for Exercise and Nutrition) has taken into account the joint influences of nutrition and physical activity upon health, by offering assessment tools and counseling protocols for both physical activity and nutrition.
PACE manages behavior: Telling patients what to do doesn't work. PACE employs effective behavioral models to tell them how to change. PACE draws heavily upon the "Stages of Change" model that suggests individuals change their habits in stages.
Medical provider's role: Patients are more likely to change health behaviors if their provider recommends it. A brief tailored message from the provider can make a big difference in the patient's overall health. It's just good medicine.
