Anatomy and Physiology with Marieb

Course Description (Major goals and teaching strategies):

This exciting and practical one year Anatomy and Physiology course is designed to expose students to a study of living systems through an in-depth examination of the structural and functional relationships of human body systems. A firm understanding of these body systems will motivate students to make scientifically sound decisions related to their health, and to the health of their communities, and the maintenance of a clean and safe planetary environment.

Furthermore, this course is one of the central sciences that Health Careers Academy was established to teach in order to facilitate students’ entry into the broad spectrum of health careers. By pursuing this course of study, students will be introduced to relevant and contemporary case studies in the health/medical arena and will obtain a first hand knowledge of the panorama of opportunities in the field of health careers and the rapidly expanding field of biotechnology. This course is very closely related to the internships that many of these students will be participating in at the various hospitals around the Boston area.

I am excited about teaching this course and look forward to having a blast with my students as together we explore the intricacies of our wonderful body machine!
