The Walks there

There are two options for the walk. One being a circuit whilst the other is to use the conventional route departing from the Cape Raoul track both there and back.
Just before the end of the road there is a sign at a gate about a track which goes through private property. Walkers are welcome to go this way on the old convict road down to Tunnel Bay and beyond. The gate is usually unlocked and uses the vehicle track leading toa house, and just prior to reaching it there is information booth and a gate off to the left which is used to get onto the convict road.
Initially it descends then climbs to a dam before turning right to follow a ridge top and downhill to Tunnel Bay. This takes about 1:15 (3.7k). Tunnel Bay gets its name from the distinct gap through the cliff. It is then a short ascent along a sandy track before levelling out and leading to Shipstern Bluff. A stepped descent is used to reach the base and, depending on the sea and your inclination, a scramble around the rocks leads to a shelf with spectacular views of the bluff.
Return to a junction and ascend to a lookout with seats and then along to a junction with Cape Raoul track and the carpark. About 2 hours (6k) from Shipstern.
In all the circuit is 12k and takes some 5 hours.
