Weekend self-defense workshop for women

Do you ever feel afraid when:

    • walking home alone?

    • opening shop in the morning?

    • going to the restroom in a club?

A true story:

“ABOUT two weeks after I started training with Mark sensei, I was assaulted in a nightclub in Sydney. “A guy came into the ladies' room and looked over the stall. He had his pants undone, and stood in the doorway of the stall to block me in. He was clearly on drugs. “Using a wrist technique that Mark had taught me, I twisted the guy out of my way and went to leave. “Then he grabbed me from behind, so I

threw him into the empty stall. “I would have been in trouble without those techniques.” - Elizabeth, age 33

Our programme

We are running a two-session workshop in women's self-defense. Topics will include:

    • when to run, when to talk, when to fight,

    • one essential strike,

    • two essential wrist locks, and

    • practice in scenarios.

Size, strength and fitness are not required to defend yourself!

Aikido has been taught to prison guards and riot police around the world. They use aikido because it gives them the maximum advantage against stronger and more numerous opponents, without needing to escalate potentially violent situations. You can learn to use your hands or improvised weapons to throw, pin, or strike an assailant. Even your voice can be used to gain the upper hand. With aikido training, your attacker's strength, speed and weight will become your greatest weapons. Learn more about the benefits of aikido here.
