Bullockhead Creek Kokikai is part of a worldwide community.
At the local level, Kokikai has dojos in Woolloongabba, the University of Queensland, and Springfield Lakes. These three dojos, along with the Tamworth and Lismore dojos in New South Wales, occasionally get together for regional seminars and gradings.
At the national level, Kokikai is represented in Brisbane, Lismore, Tamworth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. Our national headquarters are at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Our national organisation is Aikido Kokikai Australia.
We have two annual national camps. One is usually in April with Shuji Ozeki sensei, who brought Kokikai to Australia. Although he now resides in Seki, Japan, he visits us about once a year to teach and catch up.
The second annual camp is held in October. It is led by Shuji Maruyama sensei, the founder and president of Kokikai Aikido International. At the October camp, Maruyama sensei grades senior belts (brown and black belts) and instructs students from all over the country.
At the international level, the bulk of Kokikai Aikido International's members are in the USA. Maruyama sensei began teaching there in the 1960s and now has hundreds of black belt students. Our world headquarters are located in Nagoya, Japan.
