I am pleased to announce that effective today, Mr. Morgan Fowle is taking over as Troop 1430's Committee Chair. Mr. Fowle, an Eagle Scout himself, has been meeting and emailing with me over the last few months to facilitate this transition.
As Committee Chair, Mr. Fowle will be the troop's principal liaison with our Charter Organization and will lead the Troop 1430 Committee.
The Troop Committee is responsible for, among other things: rank advancement and Boards of Review, merit badges, adult volunteer recruiting, training and succession, new parent and scout orientation, fundraising, the troop web site and email list, membership/rechartering, special events, Life-to-Eagle counseling and maintaining the troop's finances though our Treasurer. The Troop Committee also sets troop policy consistent with the BSA mission.
Perhaps most importantly, the Troop Committee--through its Chair--sets the tone of the organization and assures the health and continuity of the troop.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve Troop 1430. It has been an immensely rewarding experience made possible by Troop 1430's superb group of committed adult volunteers, parents and energetic, motivated scouts. I will stay on as the Troop's Life-to-Eagle Counselor for a bit to see through our current Eagle candidates and to be sure the byzantine Eagle Scout process is passed on to the next generation of adult leadership.
My final request to the troop as Committee Chair is that you give Mr. Fowle the same support, good humor and scout spirit that you've given to me over the years.
