If selected as a member of the academy program, the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign an agreement that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by the following policies:
1. I am making a commitment to the full four years of the program, which includes the courses outlined in the curriculum sequence, a required internship, and additional experiential learning components such as job shadowing, guest speaker opportunities and field trip experiences.
2. I must maintain academic excellence and a consistent attendance record while enrolled in the academy. This includes maintaining a cumulative 2.5 unweighted GPA at the end of each academic year and no excessive or unexcused absences. A semester-long probationary period (including the completion of an academic or attendance improvement plan) will occur if my GPA or attendance record does not meet this standard. Continued failure to achieve this standard will result in dismissal from the academy.
3. Disciplinary concerns will result in a probationary period (including the completion of a behavior improvement plan) or dismissal from the academy, depending on severity.
4. I must report to academy activities, job shadowing, and internship opportunities dressed appropriately in professional business attire or in our specified academy uniform and I will represent myself, Broughton High School, and the career academy in a professional, mature, and responsible manner during these activities.
5. Regular contact will be made via email to both the academy member and parent/guardian. It is necessary for me to have a valid email address on file and check that email account often.
6. After graduation, I will be expected to update the academy coordinator on my college and career progress.
7. Participation and/or support of scheduled academy activities is expected of all members. My participation will be documented in a portfolio that will be maintained throughout my academy experience.
8. If I have any questions or problems with regard to any aspect of the academy program, I should contact the academy coordinator, Mr. Spencer Griffith, at sgriffith@wcpss.net.
