Wonderful to be part of the Not So Solitary exhibition at the Coffs Harbour Regional Museum at present. They are using my linocuts to illustrate the local oral history stories around the Solitary Islands, but also one commissioned to respond to the touring exhibition, East Coast Encounter, being held at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery. Lots of fun to be had on 14 May when there will be a special event, Arts in the Garden, to celebrate the exhibition.

I've put together a few words about my recent art practice, which I call EcoInks.

Busy creating new Nature Inks for my artwork, all from my garden in an effort to be more sustainable in my practice.

But also, I am loving the effects I can achieve with plant materials, definitely not high on the 'repeatability' ranking, as synthetic pigments are. But so variable and unpredictable - fantastic!

Hooray for Kit Kelen and crew in getting Project 365+1 Blog up and running. Thanks for allowing me to contribute for October! To see the entries, click here.

In my recent trip I was too long from home, but what experiences; being knocked off my feet by Iguazu Falls, Argentina and Brazil. Definitely inspiring new art works...

now that I am back to my bush studio...

Fantastic to find a great new teacher in Andrew Lo who  is moving up to the Mid North Coast from Sydney, like many of us!
He has helped me learn so much about paper for my new Nature Inks work. But I'm also using some more traditional inks in some current works on Saatchi Online.

Grow your own Art is an essay on my new artistic direction, turning to nature for my materials as well as inspiration. I discuss influences such as Environment and
Asian art, my mother's art and my love of the natural world.
You can link to the article - see below.

In England I worked in an oak wood with my new project around trees. Mostly I've been using extracts from oak
leaves and bark to create some new works, although these
are not in a finished state yet. For more on this work, please
see my Inspiration page.
