FUN FUR CLUB COVERS
MAKES 1 LARGE DRIVER & 2 FAIRWAY WOODS HEAD COVERS
MATERIAL:
1. Tube section: 4 ply acrylic yarn (I use Caron, Simply Soft, 100% acrilyc, 6 oz ball)
2. Hood Section: 2 balls of Fun Fur or Eyelash yarn
3. 4 of each double pointed knitting needles: Size 3.5mm and Size 6mm
4. Three 1/2 inch wood beads with hole
TUBE SECTION OF HEAD COVER:
5. Cast on 40 stitches on size 3.5 mm double pointed needles and distribute on 3 needles as follows (12 - 12 - 16)
6. K 2, P 2 for about 8 inches
7. Important: After knitting 1 or 2 inches, make sure the tube fits over your driver before continuing!!!
HOOD SECTION OF HEAD COVER:
8. Change to 6 mm double pointed needles.
9. Add 2 strands of 'Fun Fur' or Eyelash' yarn to the 4 ply yarn and knit loosely (with 3 strands of yarn) to form the hood section.
Row 1:
(On needles with 12 stitches) Knit 3 sts, knit 2 together, knit 3, knit 2 together, knit 2 (10 stitches remaining).
(On needle with16 stitches) Knit 4, knit 2 together, knit 4, knit 2 together, knit 4 (14 stitches remaining).
A total of 34 stitches should remain on the 3 needles.
Rows 2 , etc.:
Continue knitting loosely until hood of cover measures approximately 5 inches for a large driver and approx. 4 inches for fairway woods.
Last 2 rows: Knit 2 together until 6 or 7 stitches remain. Do not bind off the stitches.
Break 18 inches tail of all 3 strands of yarn and using large eye darning needle, thread tail through remaining stitches to gather closed and securely fasten the tail.
Finishing: Pull the tail through a 1/2 inch wood bead and fasten tightly on inside of head cover.
Sew in all yarn ends. Use a permanent marker to write club number on wood bead.
