Parasite won a leading four awards at the 92nd Academy Awards in February 2020 for Best Picture, Best Director (Bong Joon-ho), Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film.

Just to pick up a point made by Mark Kermode, the word "parasite" used in the film title, 기생충, is pretty strong. Just have a look at the third character in the hanja (Chinese characters as used in Korean) version of the word: 寄生蟲 which consists of three insects!
Here is an example of a YouTube video on Parasite from Asian Boss. It's great to hear discussion about the film on the street in Seoul after the Palme d'Or but before the Academy Awards. It gives you an idea of just how much discussion the film has started. There are some spoilers.
