Becky vassar - pre k

Mrs. Becky rocks pre-K and always has the best stories to tell.  She and her husband Mike live in Cannon County and worship at Woodbury Church of Christ where she was the Day School Administrator before coming to Boyd in 2016.  She is the mother of 4 wonderful children and loves spending time with them in any way.  Mrs. Becky also serves as our Pre-K Administrator and is a bright light to all the students here, Pre-K and beyond!

Bailey Witty - 1st

Miss Witty will be joining us in 2022.  We are excited about what she will bring to our family and about her caring, enthusiasm for teaching and for the students here.  

Olivia rubley - 2nd

Mrs. Rubley currently lives in Irving College Tennessee and attends the Morrison Church Of Christ. She is married to Zack Rubley, and has a son, Colton Lee. They also have a little puppy named Miko. Mrs. Olivia is a BCS alumni. She graduated Tennessee Tech University in 2019 and began teaching part time later that year. In 2020 Mrs. Rubley began teaching full time. She loves BCS because it feels like home. She says that teaching is a greater joy than she could have imagined. It is such a blessing being here at Boyd.

lindsay patterson - 3rd

Mrs. Lindsay Patterson will be joining us this year as our third grade teacher.  She lives in Cannon County and attends Woodbury Church of Christ with her husband and son.  She and her husband are alumni of BCS and we are so happy to have her back with us!

4th grade

Paula henry - 5th

Mrs. Henry resides in White County, Tennessee with her husband, Patrick. She attends Findlay Church Of Christ. She graduated from Tennessee Tech in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Boyd from 2000-2006, and then returned in 2016 and is still currently teaching. She has two daughters who both attended Boyd, and she enjoys camping and hiking.

Karen Boggess - 5th

Mrs. Boggess will be joining us in 2022.  She and her husband Eddie worship with Woodbury Church of Christ where he is the pulpit minister.  She has two wonderful, grown children, Edison and Bryson, and is ready to open her heart to the students here at Boyd.  We are excited to welcome her and look forward to all she will bring! 


Sue darby - history

Mrs. Darby lives in Woodbury Tennessee, and attends the Woodbury Church Of Christ with her husband, Curt Darby. Their son, Jeff, lives in Ohio with his wife Sue, and their five children. Their daughter, Laura, lives in Texas with her husband Mac, and their four children. Mrs. Darby graduated from Freed Hardeman University in 1968.

Drew Milligan - MS bible/HS history

Mr. Milligan lives in Rock Island, Tennessee with his wife Rebekah Milligan. They attend West Riverside Church Of Christ, where he serves as their preacher. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2011 as a major in secondary education/history and political science. He began teaching at Boyd in 2011, and loves being able to pass on knowledge to the students and form relationships with the kids. Mr. Milligan was awarded BCS Teacher of The Year in 2017. He and his wife enjoy travelling, especially to Florida.

Jessica Akers - MS ELA

Mrs. Akers lives in Cannon County with her husband, Tim, and their two children, Clay and Anagail.  They attend Woodbury Church of Christ where they are active in the youth and education programs.  She graduated from Lipscomb University in 2005, majoring in Interdisciplinary Education.  She began her career at Boyd in 2015 and loves being able to form relationships with the students here.  She loves camping, crafting, and playing board games, but nothing compares to being able to teach!

Curt darby - science

Mr. Darby lives in Woodbury, Tennessee and attends the Woodbury Church Of Christ. He is married to Sue Darby, and they have 2 children and 11 grandchildren. He graduated from Harding University in 1970, earning his bachelor’s in biology. He then earned his master’s in Parasitology at Southern Illinois University, graduating in 1972. He began teaching in 2014, and he loves interacting with the kids and creating enthusiasm for nature and science. He is an avid fly fisherman, and he has had 40 years of experience in clinical microbiology!

chris perry - ela

Mr. Perry and his family live in Viola, Tennessee. He preaches at Morrison Church Of Christ. He graduated from the Memphis School of Preaching in 2002, and then graduated from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with his bachelor’s in English in 2004. He began teaching at Boyd in 2007, and loves the environment and the opportunity to know so many wonderful kids. He and his family enjoy sports, camping, and travelling.

Karen reed - hs

Mrs. Reed, her husband Brian Reed, and their two children live in Centertown, Tennessee. They all attend Ivy Bluff Church Of Christ, where Mr. Reed preaches. Both of their children are students at Boyd. Mrs. Reed received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, graduating in 2003. She began as a substitute teacher at Boyd in 2012, and in 2018 began teaching in the library and high school health and electives. She loves seeing her students progress through the stages of literacy and develop curiosity for books. She also loves sharing information with her students that can help them make good decisions as adults and citizens in the near future!

Lydia turney - Spanish

Mrs. Turney, along with her husband, Luke, and two dogs, Leia and Ahsoka, live in Morrison, Tennessee. She and her husband worship at Forest Mill Church Of Christ. She attended Boyd as a student for several years. As an elementary education major, she graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2018. She began teaching at Boyd in 2019, and she loves all of the teachers, students, and the Christian community. She enjoys reading, visiting national parks, and making t-shirt quilts.

Mr. Lane grew up in North East Arkansas, and now resides in Summitville Tennessee with his wife, Pam. They attend the Summitville Church Of Christ, where he serves as preacher. They have 2 daughters, and 2 grandchildren. Mr. Lane graduated from the Memphis School of Preaching, and got his bachelor’s at Amridge University. He began teaching in 2008. He loves the opportunity to teach young people that the Bible is relevant to their needs. He enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors, and anything that enables him to spend time with family.

Mrs. Jennifer is the queen of school spirit and backbone of the front office.  She and her husband Scott worship with the Rock Island Church of Christ where they are both very involved in the youth program.  Mrs. Jennifer loves cheering on our students at ballgames, giving candy to office visitors, and taking pictures of the kids.
