Blanchard Memorial School Band
Welcome!
This year we will be rehearsing in person in the music room or the gym with 3 feet of spacing between the woodwind and brass students (which are the current DESE guidelines) with bell covers for the woodwind (except flute) and brass instruments. Please contact Mr. Baird asap if you need a bell cover for your instrument. Woodwind and brass players please have a mask that you use just at rehearsals with a slit through which you can put your mouthpiece. Flute players will put the mask over your head joint. You don’t put a slit in your mask. Percussionists will wear a regular mask. At this point we don’t know if we will be performing in person at community meetings, however we are planning on in-person winter and spring evening performances.
If you haven't already, please sign up for lessons, band, and any ensembles through AB Community Ed. More information and how to register can be found here.

Garabedian Scholarship Fund
Charles Garabedian was a beloved band director and music teacher at Blanchard who passed away in 1993. The Charles Garabedian Scholarship Fund was established in 1994 by the BBPO to provide scholarships to help fund the cost of private music lessons for Blanchard students who could otherwise not have afforded it. The BBPO sincerely appreciates the ongoing support from our community for this important program.

2021 Virtual Band Concert Video
Blanchard Percussion Ensemble and the Beginning and Advanced Bands participated in a project to create a virtual concert performance for spring 2021. Students recorded their parts for the selected pieces at home or at the recording studio at school. The individual recordings were put together to create a video, so we can all hear what the band would sound like if we were all together and can see the students performing their individual parts. The video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_oud14SBYI
The video was made possible in part by a grant from the AB Cultural Council.
We've put together some instrument demos on video. Click here to see the videos. You'll see demos of these instruments:
