Born in 2005, Vanessa Chen is a Chinese American aspiring author. "A Butterfly Universe" is her first full-length book. She began writing it in 2016, when she was just ten years old, and credits an especially creative winter break from school for much of its development. She also enjoys writing poetry and short stories and has a few other works in progress. In addition to her writing, Vanessa is a prolific reader, and she can often be found curled up on the couch with a book, feeding her imagination. She also enjoys recreational figure skating and playing the piano, and listening to music. She lives with her parents, brother, and hamster in eastern Massachusetts.
