Cider Day
Lots of Bigelow Highlands neighbors have fruit trees and vines in their yards. Starting in 2019, the BHNA began hosting a neighborhood juice squeeze we call Cider Day. Every fall, neighbors bring apples, grapes, and even quince to press into juice for cider.
We provide the crusher and press. Just bring your fruit and something to take your juice home in (wide-mouth jars are great). If you don't have fruit trees, there are apple trees next to the Capitol Church Community Garden to pick.
Chopping large fruit (like apples and quince) into quarters beforehand helps.
Can't make it to Cider Day? Good news:.the press and crusher are free for neighbors to borrow. E-mail Ben and Marj to reserve the equipment. We will train you on its use too.
