The Neighborhood

Bigelow Highlands is a neighborhood on the east side of Olympia, Washington. It encompasses 0.18 square mile. Originally known as "Workingman's Hill," it contains many homes built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, including the historic Hale House and Funk House.

The Bigelow Highlands neighborhood stretches from Yew Street Northeast at the north, down to Fourth Avenue East on the south. Its western boundary is Puget Street Northeast and its eastern boundary is Fir Street Northeast.

The Neighborhood Association

BHNA's purpose is to maintain and enhance the quality of life in our neighborhood through the collective action of its members. BHNA is a recognized neighborhood association in Olympia.

We organize neighbors for projects such as block watch and host a neighborhood block party and a neighborhood juice squeeze we call Cider Day, held in late summer.

Membership dues are a voluntary contribution of $10 per household a year. Your contribution funds neighborhood events and programs such as:

    • The Annual National Night Out block party

    • The Cider Day neighborhood juice squeeze

    • Block Watch and emergency preparedness

    • Graffiti removal

    • The BHNA Web site

    • The BHNA newsletter

Other Ways to Contribute to BHNA

Do you shop at Ralph's or Bayview Thriftways? If so, you can help support BHNA by using your ThrifteCard. You may remember using their Community Rebate Card in the past. These cards have been replaced by the new ThrifteCard.

Designate Bigelow Highlands Neighborhood Association #1122 as the participating organization for the ThrifteCard. Then hand your ThrifteCard to the cashier and 1 percent of your total purchase will be contributed to BHNA through the Community Rebate Program.
