Azure Hansen

Azure earned her BS in Physics and Optics at Stony Brook University, where she was a WISE Scholar and did research in Hal Metcalf and John Noe's Laser Teaching Center, and in Dominik Schneble's BEC lab. She spent two summers at NIST in Kris Helmerson & Bill Phillips' BEC lab.

Azure has attended a number of workshops, for which she is very grateful: L'Ecole de Physique des Houches,Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, and The 24th International Conference on Atomic Physics. She has been supported by a Provost's Fellowship from the University of Rochester and GAANN. After she completes her PhD Azure hopes to do a post-doc in ultracold atomic physics or quantum optics, and pursue a career in research with an emphasis in science outreach. Presently her science outreach efforts are centered on Camp Quest, the non-profit educational summer camp for children from secular families, where Azure is the Chair of the National STEM Curriculum and program director.
