Jam Overview

BFMS Mission Statement:

To Expand Lifelong Learning

Jam is a program that is here to enhance academic learning, teach students social skills, to have a safe place to go after school, and to have FUN. Jam is not here to be a "money maker" for our school. Depending on the economic status of your family, Jam may charge a small fee for the activities- NEVER for homework. Even if that is a problem, visit with Mrs. Messner- we would NEVER turn away a child due to money. There is always a solution.

Jam has a grant that the middle school has had for 15 years. This grant allows us to aid with homework, challenge students to think in different ways, and to have time to socialize with their peers.

Jam is available everyday after school from 3:45 to 5:00. Students are provided a snack and a safe place to learn at Jam. The staff from our school have planned activities for those who do not have homework. At 5 0'clock, the Jam Van departs to drop students off at South Park, North Park, Hermann Park, and the Rec Center.

If you want to participate, or if Mom and Dad want a safe place for you to hang out at after school, you will need to fill out a Jam registration form. You can pick these forms up at Jam or in the Middle School Office. Contact Kristy Messner at (605) 641-3139 for questions.
