JAM Coordinator- Kristy Messner- 641-3139 BFSD Mission Statement : To Expand Lifelong Learning

JAM was created in 1999. It offers activities and programs for students after school, Friday morning Intersessions, and a full summer day schedule Monday—Friday for six weeks during June and July. JAM is funded by a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. * This program is offered to the students who are enrolled in the Belle Fourche School District.

Fees: $100.00 for the summer, or $70.00 for one month or $18 per week for one child. An additional $15 will be charged for each additional sibling, each month or $30.00 for the summer . **NOTE** If you qualify for free or reduced lunches, this also applies to the JAM fees. See Mrs. Messner for reduced prices or any other questions regarding fees. Payments are due the first day of JAM at the beginning of the month. (June 1st & July 5th) A T-Shirt fee will be due at the time of registration.

All students attending MUST have a registration packet completed by a parent or guardian before they can attend JAM.

Does JAM cost money?

Yes and no. If you qualify for our free and reduced program, you qualify for our scholarship for free or reduced JAM. If you do not, the fee is $70 a month or $18per week. See Mrs. Messner for any other questions.

Summer school and ESY are free programs.

Where & When do you pick up and drop off for JAM?

There is a busing system in place during Summer JAM. The bus picks students up in the morning at North Park, Herrmann Park, Rec Center, and South Park. The bus then picks up students after JAM at 3:30 and drops off at South Park, Rec Center, Herrmann Park, and North Park.

If you drop your student off, he or she needs to be dropped off and picked up at the Activity Room doors on the North end of the building.

If you are unable to pick up your son/daughter by 3:45 pm at the Middle School, he/she will be transported to the Rec. Center to wait for you.

8:00 am to 3:30 pm

What paperwork needs to be done before I am allowed to come to Summer JAM?

There is a complete packet that needs to be filled out before you attend JAM. This covers field trips, medical release, media release, and anything else JAM needs for the summer.

Do I have to come every week?

We would love it if you came every week! We understand that summers are busy and no you do not have to come every week, but there are no refunds for the cost. Make sure and sign up ahead of time to save your spot in the camps.

Do I always get my first choice of camps?

Unfortunately, we can not guarantee that you will get your first choice. The sooner you sign up, the better your chances.

What about lunch?

You may bring your own lunch or the cafeteria will be open for lunch and breakfast to the students.

Can I bring a cell phone, money, or an ipod?

We prefer that you leave all electronics at home. If you child does bring an electronic, it is their responsibility to keep track of it Jam will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or broken electronics. Your child may not use their cell phone throughout the day, if you need to get a hold of your child please call JAM at 641-3139 and we will get that phone to them to talk with you. Please do not text your child throughout the day.
