Great news! The White County commission unanimously passed the land use ordinance tonight. Travis Turner, the Chairman says he would like a draft of historic districts and assets by August 1. Judy Lovell and Mark Johnson will be in charge of that work, with the assistance of Allan Stovall.
It's a great day for White County

Friends and Neighbors - the County Commission is do a second reading and hopefully adopt (finally!) land use regulations this coming Monday, March 30 at 4:30 PM. The meeting will be in the old jail, now the County Commission meeting facility, behind the Senior Center on the Helen Highway.
Please join me in attending this meeting and support the passage of this sorely needed ordinance. White County has too long been vulnerable to toxic and septic waste facilities. With the economy recovering, increased development will soon be coming our way. We need intelligent, orderly development to protect the beauty and scenic, cultural, and natural resources of our county. Let's not let it become another over-developed suburb!
