What was the First Flag of Georgia?

The first official state flag was established on October 17, 1879, 91 years after it became a state.. It resembled the Stars and Bars flag of the Confederacy in having three equal red-white-red stripes, but instead of a canton there was a vertical blue stripe along the hoist. That design continued in use until 1905, when the state seal was added to the blue stripe.

On January 24, 2001, however, Georgia’s House of Representatives adopted a new flag design that had been created largely behind closed doors. It incorporated the state seal—the design of which included the words constitution, wisdom, justice, and moderation—and a scroll that bore the phrase “Georgia’s History” above two historical flags of the United States and three of Georgia (including the 1956–2001 flag). Underneath the small flags was the motto “In God we trust.” The flag was legalized on January 31.

How to fold Georgia State Flag?

In ceremonies involving state flags, we have used the same fold prescribed for the U.S. flag, for the same reason — it allows the flags to neatly unfurl when they are posted.

Fold the flag in half width-wise twice, to form a long rectangle.

Make a triangular fold, beginning from the part of the flag that is furthest away from the hoist and folding the closed corner of the flag towards the open corner.

Fold the triangle back to create a new horizontal edge, then repeat the process, folding one triangle after another until the entire length of the flag has been folded back and only a small rectangular tab remains.

Tuck the rectangular tab inside the folds to keep the flag from unraveling.

Folding any flag should be done by two people, each holding two corners of the flag at the beginning of the folding and You should never allow a flag to touch the ground.
