How Do You Wash A Cotton American Flag?

Allow the flag to soak for at least four hours after submerging it. Color bleeding from prior washes can also be removed with oxygen bleach. After rinsing the fabric in cold water, hang it up or lay it flat to dry. Remove creases from natural fabric flags using a hot iron.

The origin of the stars and stripes design has been muddled by a story disseminated by the descendants of Betsy Ross.
