Director of Study Abroad in Belize Program
Participant (2009-present) & 'BISE' Keynote Address 2015
Participation in the 'Belizean International Symposium on Education' has been an important event in our 'Study Abroad in Belize Program' at Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas. Yearly, I have attended the symposium since inception of 2009. At the symposium my students listen to papers delivered by international scholars and present their own posters at the Symposium Poster Session. Dr. Pamela Cook has done an admirable job of bringing annual professional opportunities to teachers and professors of Belize.
The symposium benefits the children of Belize and our student study abroad program assists by donating teaching supplies, clothing and medicine to children living in Belizean orphanages and preschools. I whole-hardheartedly endorse participation in the Belizean International Symposium on Education, for educators and students coming to Belize. Dr. Cook provides a forum for intellectual dialogue among professionals; a charity for donations to benefit children and incredible opportunities for professional networking among international colleagues.

"I went last year and would recommend the experience.
Dr. Pamela Cook has compassion and a vision to help the children in the orphanages
in Belize and the educational infrastructure".

" 'The International Belizean Symposium' provides a mixture of rich professional experiences with professors from a variety of countries; with a focus on current “hot topics” in education, while experiencing Belizean culture through field trips and contacts with professors and students from the University of Belize.” Judi Simmons Estes, Ph.D.; Department of Elementary and Secondary Teacher Preparation; Park University, Parkville, Missouri.
