On behalf of the, Belizean International Symposium on Education, we would like to honour and remember Miss Kahlyn Heine a graduate of Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas and former elementary school teacher of special education. Miss Heine was a member of the Washburn University Study Abroad to Belize Program in 2011/2012, conducted by Dr. Judith McConnell-Farmer. The Educational Symposium is deeply saddened of her passing. Due to Kahlyn’s deep desire and passion to help the children in Belizean orphanages, donations delivered to orphanages in January 2013, have been made in her name. We are grateful to Kahlyn's family, friends and the Washburn University Study Abroad to Belize Program for proudly continuing the yearly donation identified as their, 'Shoes for the Babies in Belize'. This yearly tribute to Kahlyn's memory serves the mission of the Belizean International Symposium on Education to assist in meeting the needs of Belizean children.
