Antacids (e.g. rennies/tums) or alginates (e.g. gaviscon) – useful for controlling symptoms, neutralise acid.
Alginates have further special ingredient which coats oesophagus and stomach.
Acid suppressant drugs – two types: H2 receptor antagonists such as zantac (ranitidine) and proton pump inhibitor therapy or PPI’s (lansoprazole, omeprazole, pantoprazole, rabeprazole).
