3. 12/06/2014 (Saturday) - The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is pleased to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus back to “Santa’s Place” at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station. Santa will make only one visit on Saturday, December 6th, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Children are invited to pose for free pictures with Santa. They can also hear their favorite holiday stories read by Mrs. Claus. After getting their pictures taken the kids can head over to the Subway City Train Garden which is right next to “Santa’s Place”.
The interactive train garden features a subway train that travels through a cityscape, and neighborhoods, a zoo, a park, and a construction site. Visitors are encouraged to take part in the fun by pushing interactive buttons and watching as the objects inside the train garden come to life.
This marks the 8th year for the holiday exhibit which was designed and built by MTA Metro Subway employees. The display is located on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station and is available for public viewing through Monday, January 2015 during the Metro Subway system’s normal operating hours.
“The Mondawmin Metro Subway Station is the gateway to one Baltimore’s busiest shopping centers, and a major hub for our transit system,” said MTA Administrator Ralign T. Wells. He added, “We are pleased that Santa agreed to stop by and hear the Christmas wishes of children again this year, and that MTA employees could help provide such an exciting backdrop.”
The Subway City Train Garden and “Santa’s Place” are both free of charge. Parents are encouraged to arrive early for the free pictures with Santa because of his busy schedule.
