The Baltimore Electric Rail Society, also known as the Baltimore Electric Railway Society, is a hobbyist group created by me on December 8th 2010, as a fan of electrified passenger railways including freight railways, both in real & in model forms, to help promote a common interest in this type of railway mode of travel, predominantly in the area of Baltimore Maryland.

This site also contains a vast amount of bus & railway-based public transportation info for the Baltimore MD & Washington DC areas as well as other Mid-Atlantic states that you can access by using the NAVIGATION area on the left-hand side of this webpage.

The above photos are of a PCC-style trolley model that my late father, Henry Mitchell Jr of Philadelphia PA, carved completely out of wood when he was in the 6th grade. That's him pictured above sitting down & holding the entire rail structure base which he made that the trolley sits on. The windshield wipers are made of paper clips, the trolley pole is made out of coat hanger wire with a spring at its base to actually keep it upright like the real thing with a hold-down clip for pole storage in the horizontal position & a piece of string to keep the pole at an angle when it is up. He also laid the tracks with the simulated ties that are actually made of wood. There's also a simulated trolley wire that is made from a metal coat hanger. He gave that to me sometime around the late 1960's & I still have it to this day. What a real treasure.

I also construct my own model railroad layouts that represent either fictitious or real-life cities or towns that would use an electrified railway system for passenger and/or freight transportation purposes.
