1. Library Program Goals:
-Support the needs of teachers
-Support the curriculum through technology and print resources

Related Common Core Key Considerations:
-"The need to conduct research and to produce and consume media is embedded into every aspect of today's curriculum. In like fashion, research and media skills are embedded throughout the Standards rather than treated in a separate section" (p. 4, Iowa Core English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects).
-"...need for college and career ready students to be proficient in reading complex information text independently in a variety of content areas" (p. 4, Iowa Core English Language Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects).
2. Ways the Library can be a Resource and Concrete Examples:

"Students expand their range when applying literacy skills to a variety of content areas... It is through applying literacy skills in a numbe rof content areas that students learn to integrate thse skills and strategies into life experience" (Iowa Core - Reading in secondary content areas, p 76).
Technology with Students
"Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others" (Iowa Core - Writing in secondary content areas Anchor 6, p 81).
Information Literacy Lessons
"Research to Build and Present Knowledge" (Iowa Core - Writing in secondary content areas Anchor, p.81).
3. Curriculum Plan
In order to better serve you, please provide me with a curriculum plan for next year. This plan should include topics you are teaching throughout the year and suggestions for ways I can be a resource. The template is attached below, or can be shared via a Google Doc for those who shared their email address with me at our meeting on May 1st.
