The Pageant

Axbridge Pageant

Many members of Axbridge Community Theatre were involved in the August 2022 Axbridge Pageant - a ten-yearly re-enactment of the town's history which takes place in the town's Square. After 2 years' delay caused by the Covid pandemic, it was fantastic that the large-scale, highly ambitious production was able to take place again!

Summer 2021 - ACT goes to London!

On 7th August a group of ACT members went to London to represent the Axbridge Pageant in an exhibition celebrating historical pageantry at Cecil Sharpe House. The event was part of a project called 'Redress of the Past', an Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project examining historical pageants in 20th C Britain. The group performed a play based around three scenes from Axbridge pageant, and director John Bailey gave a short talk about the pageant's history and context. The group was made very welcome, and the event helped to set the scene for the postponed full-scale performance of the Axbridge Pageant to take off in August 2022!
