Gaslight
Gaslight
By Patrick Hamilton
Ever felt as though you’re being driven out of your mind? Ever wondered why we call coercive control “gaslighting”? You might be surprised to find that Patrick Hamilton’s 1938 play was the origin of the term we use today.
Bella is a woman on the edge. She hears footsteps in the night, finds pictures moving by themselves and sees the gaslights in the drawing room dim and flicker without a touch. Meanwhile, her husband is constantly disappearing. He tells her she may be going mad - and she starts to believe him. As her grip on reality begins to slip, she finds herself in the middle of a terrifying mystery.
With its title now formally enshrined in legal terminology, this domestic drama echoes through the ages. Join us, to see if Bella can fight back against her sinister, manipulative husband. Hamilton's thriller Gaslight will have you on the edge of your seat.
