ACT is a group open to anyone in Axbridge or the surrounding areas with an interest in theatre and theatrical productions. The main purpose of the group is the staging of plays and we currently aim to put on two productions a year. One of these is directed by the group's Artistic Director, John Bailey - in recent years this has included Patrick Hamilton's Gaslight Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and Arthur Miller's Broken Glass. Other members interested in directing are invited to put forward proposals for the second production, which has included Fred Carmichael's Out of Sight . . Out of Murder directed by Diane Lukins, Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion directed by Wendy Mace, Tom Stoppard's A Separate Peace and The Real Inspector Hound directed by David Parkin (who also directed Gogol's The Government Inspector) Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit directed by Phil Saunders (who also directed Pinter's The Dumb Waiter and Beckett's Footfalls) The Ladykillers directed by Peter Honeyands and A Midsummer Night's Dream directed by a team of three ACT members.. We believe we have built a reputation for a high standard of production and it is our is aim to maintain this.
ACT maintains a mailing list of people interested in its activities, and also a register of formal members who pay an annual membership fee of £10. If you would like to be on our mailing list or are interested in joining the society please contact us via the form on the Contact us page - add your name and e-mail address to the contact form and type 'ACT membership' into the comment box, and we will contact you.
